One Month Old April 29, 2008

Keven turns one month old today… He had his baby shower on Sat and about 80-90 uncles and aunties turn up to celebrate the occasion with him. Unfortunately, this boy who usually dont sleep much practically slept throughout his special day. Think he is too shy to see many people, ke ke.

The event was from 1 - 5pm but I had many turning up before 12 noon. So I was busy entertaining from 11am – 7pm. Was super exhausted and by the time I wanted to grab some food, all the food have been tabao away by the last batch of guests. So no lunch and dinner for me… only took 2 slices of his full month cake as dinner. Sob.

For those who have graced the occasion, my apology that I wasn’t able to attend to each of you for long, esp my ex-team. Hope it provided an opportunity for you guys to gather even though I am not there. And for those whom I have failed to invite, do pardon me as my humble house could not accommodate so many people (already bursting with the 90 pax).
By the way, little Keven loves all the gift and money (red packets) that all the uncles and aunties have given to him. Thanks a million!

Been suffering from this serious acne problem due to pregnancy hormonal changes for about the last 4 – 6 months. I was hoping that the condition will improve after delivery but apparently it did not. Been surfing around and asking my friends, seems like it will take a long while to recover (if it ever does). Given my impatient character, I have gone to my previous dermatologist, Dr. Lim Kah Beng about 2 wks ago. Unfortunately, I was still breastfeeding then and all he could do was to prescribe me some creams that just dry up my whole face and made it peel badly. The acne are still there though. My friend just recommended me Dr. Seow Chew Swee at National Skin Centre today but I have always have reservation about going to govt practioners (long queue etc). So I took a risk and made an appt to see another derm, Dr. Ang Chee Beng, at Mount Alvernia tomorrow. Pray hard that he can help me with my prob. Given no choice, I will then see Dr. Seow as recommended. Got to spend a hefty amt again… each visit to private derm costs about 200 – 300 each time. Haiz.
P.S: For those who are visting on Sat, please do not qns me on my face and further demoralize me ya. sob sob.

We just took turns learning to bath for little Keven recently. My hubby did the bathing on Sunday morning while I did the cleansing in the evening. And today is finally my turn to bath him… He loves the feeling of being immerse in water and did not make much noise, so it was a pretty easy task.

Wound pain, breast pain, toothache and now fever! Really testing my threshold for pain. Think my fever came as a result of nerve infection. The dentist yesterday didnt even bother to give me medicine or antibiotics for the wound after extraction. Luckily the medicine from the clinic doctor today works, else I would have ‘collapse’. Super moody.

Fed up. My dear cream sofa just arrived on Sat. I was telling my confinement lady that day that cream sofa gets dirty easily, so I must clean more often. And there she was today, sitting with her legs rolled up and stepping on my sofa or cross legged with soles touching the corner of my sofa. And next she did was to spread the newspaper wide across the sofa. Doesnt she know that newspaper gives this black stain and that the soles are dirty from all the walking across dust? My blood was boiling when I see all these and I took the chance to dump the newspaper to the side chair when she puts it down. Really pissed. I seriously wonder if I can tolerate her for another 2 weeks at times like this. But the thought of me taking care of Keven alone is another nightmare. If I can’t have the best of both world, I would opt for her to go first… Pui. *PISS*
P.S: She also loves to rest her legs on my white coffee table and carries Keven right after she digs her nose. OMG!
Pain April 13, 2008

My body must be testing my endurance level for pain. Gave me a super bad toothache since 2 days ago – the kind that will give you an extra shot of pain and wake you up from your sleep in the middle of the night, even without you eating anything or touching it. It’s really a nightmare, having to bear with this extra pain, on top of my breast tenderness and my wound pain. Most likely need to run to the dentist within the next 2 days if things are not getting better. Sharks.
Update on 15.04.2008: After I woke up in pain in the middle of my sleep for 3 times last night, I could bear it no longer. Went to my dentist within half an hour from booking and next I know, my tooth was extracted. I seriously wonder if the dentist was rushing for time and felt that an extraction is more straight forward or that root canal treatment is really not that feasible for my condition. Whatever it is, I am one tooth short now. Luckily it’s the last tooth right at the back, so not that awful looking. The pain has finally gone off about 10 hours after the extraction.
Confinement Myths April 11, 2008

Whether it’s myths or my own misconception, I have been breaching some of them.
- Myth 1 – no bathing. Must be joking right, with the hot weather in Singapore, how is this possible. I have been bathing everyday with the so call ‘herbal’ water that are specially boiled for bathing. But it’s so hot at times that I still added normal tap water to it.
- Myth 2 – no washing of hair. Might as well kill me. How can I stand my hair in oily and messy state. Well I have given in, instead of washing everyday now, I wash every 2 – 3 days. That’s fair right?
- Myth 3 – should not go out. Ai yo, before I was discharge, my gynae and paediatrician are already asking me to visit them within the next few days. Further, my wounds are barely recovering yet. I had such difficulty walking, getting in and out of cab and to sit. Have stepped out for at least 4 times for appt since delivery just in the last 2 wks.
- Myth 4 – cannot have the fan blowing at you. With the heaty meals and hot soup everyday, I felt as though I am in a suana. No fan? Really trying to kill me. I always hid in my room to enjoy the cool aircon and the windy fan. :
I guess it’s all about what you believe in. I still comply to most of them but with adjustment in standards and practices that I felt comfortable with.
